Intimate partner violence (IPV) is abuse or aggression that occurs in a romantic relationship. “Intimate partner” refers to both current and former spouses and dating partners. IPV can include: physical violence, sexual violence, stalking, and psychological aggression. About 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime. Over 43 million women and 38 million men have experienced IPV by an intimate partner in their lifetime. This training will help you protect yourself or a loved one from becoming a victim of this type of abuse.
Elder abuse is an intentional act or failure to act that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult aged 60 or older. The abuse occurs at the hands of a caregiver or a person the elder trusts. Common types of elder abuse include: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, financial abuse, and neglect. Abuse, including neglect and exploitation, is experienced by about 1 in 10 older adults who live at home. From 2002 to 2016, more than 643,000 assaults to older adults were treated in the emergency department and over 19,000 homicides occurred. This training will help you and your family in identifying what types of abuse there are and how to prevent them against your loved ones.
